Heads up!
The WNBA will be adding three more teams to the league between now and the end of the decade. And last week, we finally got the reveal for the next team set to hit the scene in 2028 — the Cleveland Sirens. 🧜♀️ According to the team’s official Instagram, the name stems from both the unapologetic and relentless nature of the mythical creatures, but also from the city's connection to Lake Erie, which is also a force to be reckoned with.
And it’s all being led by another powerful female figure in the sports world — Allison Howard. Howard brings 20 years of experience in the sports industry to the Siren’s front office, including from her most recent role as the first president of the KC Current (the National Women’s Soccer League team in Kansas City). There, she single-handedly spearheaded all of the Current’s revenue streams, business operations, and culture development (of course SHE did), and now she’s doing the same in Cleveland.
Ladies (and gents), I think we just found a new team to root for in 2028!
